Devotee: While chanting my mind wanders here and there. Why it happens and what to do?
Prabhu: Whenever we desire to serve Krishna then at the same time Krishna must also desire to accept our service, then only we will be able to serve. Similarly, harinaam also manifests itself on our tongue then only we are able to chant. By our own effort we cannot chant. We can try to chant but our mind will wander here and there. When the mercy will come to us then the tears will fall from our eyes. If all the pastimes are just in our mind, then nothing will happen. Only when the pastimes appear in our heart, the tears will fall spontaneously. Until that time, we have to surrender to mahamantra. What Narottama Das Thakur prayed, “Prabhu, I want to serve you; but first please evoke the desire in my heart to serve you.”
